The standard itinerary is traveling from Chiang Mai, Thailand, cross the border at Chiang Khong, from where you can board the Slow Boat, with a stop at Pakbeng, passing through Pak Ou Cave and finally stopped at Luang Prabang , where you can travel by bus or plane to Vientiane. Finally you can go to Vietnam through Hin Boun, where you can spend the night at a homestay.
